Performance at Festivals

Optional participation in festivals throughout the year offers pupils the opportunity to perform and gain confidence whilst working on performance technique. We include all  pupils who wish to join us for group work performances. Pupils gain great team-building skills and grow through the strength and camaraderie of working together on many aspects of performance.

Pupils may also choose to perform as a soloist or team up with friends for duets, trios or quartet performances.

All England Dance - a Bi-annual event developing from local festivals

The All England Dance Competition, founded in July 1923, is the only one of its kind in the world. It is a Registered Charity, affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals, and is a competitive Festival of Theatre Dance for amateurs, children, and students of Theatre Arts.

Objective
To advance the education of the public in the Arts and, in particular, the performance, appreciation and the practice of the Art of Dance.

Purpose
The main purpose is educational.  To provide an opportunity for good amateur dancers to receive the judgement of eminent professionals, to gain experiential knowledge, to benefit from seeing others taking part, to develop their confidence by demonstrating their artistic abilities before both critical and appreciative audiences.

Aims
To raise the national standard of amateur performance in theatre dance.  To provide a forum for Dance Education and the professional Theatre.  To increase popular interest and appreciation of Theatre Dance as an enjoyable, sometimes a moving experience and often an entertaining art form.  To further public recognition of dance as an important factor in human social development.  To be a means by which good dancers may become more widely known and by which some may start their careers as professional artistes.
